Research-Backed Renal Diet
The Ren-Nu program, combined with the innovative medical food KetoCitra® from Santa Barbara Nutrients, uses a kidney-safe, low-carb ketogenic diet backed by research to manage Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD). It reduces damaging microcrystals, corrects metabolic imbalances, and supports kidney resilience. By targeting both crystal formation and metabolic pathways, participants gain better control of their condition, experience improved symptoms, and slow disease progression—essential for long-term kidney health and well-being.

REN-NUTM PROGRAM
CLINICALLY PROVEN BENEFITS
A 2021 clinical study evaluated the Ren-Nu program, which combines a kidney-safe, low-carb ketogenic diet with KetoCitra®, in individuals with ADPKD. The study showed improvements in kidney function, reduced dependence on anti-hypertensive medications, and relief from symptoms like kidney pain and headaches. It also highlighted KetoCitra®’s role in reducing renal microcrystal formation, lowering oxalate absorption, normalizing urinary pH and citrate levels, and maintaining ketone levels—all contributing to better long-term kidney health and improved outcomes for those managing PKD.

RESEARCH
Based on Research from Leading scientists
“The Ren-Nu program is more than a dietary intervention—it’s a pathway to empowering patients with polycystic kidney disease (PKD). By incorporating scientifically-backed nutritional strategies like a ketogenic approach, we’ve seen significant improvements in kidney function and overall health. This program offers hope and a real chance to slow the progression of PKD, as demonstrated by both clinical results and participant outcomes.”

Our Commitment to Clinical Research
As a benefit corporation, Santa Barbara Nutrients is dedicated to advancing research to improve the health and well-being of individuals with PKD and other conditions.
The long-term benefits of the Ren-Nu program are being evaluated in a controlled clinical study at Juntendo University, a leading medical school in Tokyo. Additional clinical studies are planned to begin in 2025. Health outcomes of current and future Ren.Nu participants will be tracked for publication in scientific literature. To date, over 200 individuals with ADPKD have participated in the program.
